Selling

How selling works

You list, you ship, you get paid. Here is exactly what that costs and what you are responsible for.

The selling flow

  1. 1

List your gear with photos, condition and price.

  2. 2

    A buyer purchases your item.

  3. 3

You purchase approved trackable ground shipping.

  4. 4

Enter the carrier and tracking number in Trail Closet.

  5. 5

    Ship within 48 hours.

  6. 6

The buyer tracks delivery through Trail Closet and confirms it arrived.

  7. 7

Your payout becomes eligible 48 hours after the buyer confirms delivery.

Fees

  • No upfront listing fee. Listing your gear is free.
  • Trail Closet charges a 15% seller fee when your item sells. There is no separate payment-processing, card or transaction fee deducted from your proceeds.
  • You are responsible for the cost of shipping.

Shipping responsibilities

Sellers purchase their own shipping and must use an approved trackable ground service:

  • USPS Ground Advantage
  • UPS Ground
  • FedEx Ground / standard ground service

Ship within 48 hours of purchase and enter the carrier, shipping method and tracking number in Trail Closet. Expedited shipping products are not offered at launch.

Sellers are responsible for purchasing enough carrier insurance to cover the value of the item. Trail Closet does not automatically insure your package.

Getting paid

Your payout becomes eligible 48 hours after the buyer confirms delivery, provided there is no active return, refund, dispute or delivery issue.

If the buyer does not confirm delivery, the payout will remain on hold until Trail Closet reviews the order.

Payouts can be held while a return, refund, dispute or delivery issue is open on the order. Trail Closet does not release funds immediately at purchase.

Before you list

Read the Seller Guidelines and the Returns & Refunds policy. You choose whether to accept voluntary returns when you create a listing.
